Class description

Shared Creativity and Building a Team

In your third course with us, as well as continuing to strengthen your scenework skills, you will start to link scenes together to make a show. You will make connections both by character and theme to build a rich, fascinating world that exists just for one night. In doing so, you will learn more about your taste in improvisation and how you can bring it to the stage.

As you form a team, you will create an environment which nurtures and celebrates differing tastes and styles of improvising. You will think about how you can work simply and productively together, finding inspiration in each other and making a show no individual could have created.

This course finishes with a performance of the ‘Armando’ (also called the ‘monologue deconstruction’), a simple improv form using true monologues. Upon completing this course (normally at the end of one year’s training), students are eligible for our experienced player courses, both on and offline.

End-of-term Showcase

You'll perform in an end-of-term showcase for friends and family on Saturday, 5th December at the Lantern Theatre.

Important Note:

  • Although most of our students perform at the end of their courses, all showings are optional. They are not tests or graduations; they are just a chance to do what you have been doing in class and receive the adulation of your loved ones
  • While we strive to maintain the advertised showcase schedule, dates are subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances. Refunds will not be issued in the event of a showcase date alteration.
  • Teachers

    Jules Munns

Jules is an experienced improviser, director, and facilitator who combines deep expertise in longform improv with a passion for creative team development. He began improvising at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and went on to co-found The Nursery, where he served as Artistic Director for over a decade. In that role, Jules ran both the theatre and the company’s house teams, as well as designing and delivering corporate training programmes. He also co-created Slapdash, London’s first international improv festival. Jules continues to perform with The Maydays, including their acclaimed touring show Happily Never After, and was the director of the original run of Impromptu Shakespeare. As a teacher and coach, Jules specialises in scenework, team dynamics, and classic longform structures such as the Harold, Deconstruction, and Armando. His facilitation style is experimental and boundary-pushing, encouraging participants to explore new possibilities and challenge their creative limits. Favourite improv moment: Watching a group of first-time improvisers spontaneously discover a shared rhythm that carried a scene to an unexpected and powerful conclusion.
