Online Improv - Free Taster

Next class:

Class description

Improv is theatre (or comedy) without a script. It’s stories and scenes made up on the spot. But it is many other things as well. It is a great way to build confidence and calm under pressure. And to work on your creativity. And to just meet people. It is also a way of looking at the world, at other people and even at yourself. All while still being guaranteed to make you laugh. Improv is a lot of things. You might call it yoga for the soul. Or mindfulness for show-offs (though lots of non-show-offs do it too).

Now, this all sounds very good, but what does improv really feel like? What can you expect from one of our courses? AndAlso’s taster sessions are an opportunity to dip your toe in and see what an improv class is. During the session, you will be introduced to core improv principles like ‘yes and’, support and being obvious. With a low-pressure group warm-up and a selection of group and pair exercises, you will get a glimpse of what improv really means.

Come spend a zero-commitment 60 minutes with us online and let us share a little bit of what we love to do. There may even be a discount for our beginner courses.

AndAlso welcomes anyone over the age of 18, regardless of background, education, physical ability, sexuality and gender, language or any other form of identity. We believe improv can be for anyone, and we pride ourselves on making our classes accessible and friendly. If there is anything we can do to make the class more comfortable for you, just drop us an email at hello@andalsoimprov.com and we’ll do our best.

Our Times

He trained with The Maydays in Brighton before founding Dogface Improv in Norwich, where he built a vibrant local community through spontaneous performance. Chris has furthered his skills with top improv schools including iO Chicago, Second City, and UCB, bringing a wide-ranging knowledge of improv styles and techniques to his work. At AndAlso, Chris specialises in designing and delivering workshops that harness the power of improvisation to boost communication, creativity, and mental wellbeing in professional settings. He combines technical insight with warmth and humour to create safe, inspiring spaces where teams can experiment, connect, and grow. Chris is especially passionate about forms like the Harold and Deconstruction, but embraces flexible, organic approaches that meet the needs of each group. Whether coaching leaders or facilitating beginners, he believes improv offers practical tools for connection and resilience. Favourite improv moment: Seeing an audience erupt when a glitchy voice modulator accidentally made a robot character cry—completely unplanned, completely perfect.
